Adults and children with learning disabilities or autism can benefit from a range of clinical interventions. An intervention will be recommended following a thorough clinical assessment and can be direct (i.e. with the person themselves – such as psychotherapy) or indirect - with the person’s family or staff who are supporting them, such as collaboration in drawing up and implementing a Positive Behaviour Support Plan. Sometimes, clinical interventions consist of a combination of both direct and indirect interventions.
